One
of the most critical wear components on a rotary vessel is
the tire support system. Each rotary vessel is unique in
their requirement for support of the tire. Considerations
such as operational temperatures, degree of slope &
production variables just to name a few, play into the
design and installation of the tire supports. Poorly
designed tire support systems will cause premature wear to
the tires, trunnions, bearings, and the drive train
components.

The
Rotary Service Company will design your tire supports
specifically for your unit.
One size does not fit all!
RSC removes the existing tire
support system, replacing it with filler bars, shims and
stops designed specifically for your unit.

RSC’s tire support system is
designed to provide maximum coverage to the inside dimension
(ID) of the supported tire, allowing better distribution of
loads through the tire to the trunnions, thus reducing metal
fatigue and wear caused by continuous loading and unloading
sections of the tire.
|
 |
RSC shims between the filler
bars and the shell, at four opposing points, to lock the
tire into correct axial alignment with the shell. The
remaining sections of the tire are shimmed sequentially to
achieve at least 60% coverage of the ID of the tire,
maintaining the axial alignment of the tire to the shell.
RSC will bring the overall gap between the shell, (at the
top of the unit), and the tire to an engineered spacing at
production temperature. |
|
Tire stops are installed to
position the tire in correct radial rotation with the shell.
RSC’s stops are welded directly to the filler bars on three
sides of the stops. The stops cannot move, thus retaining
the tire in correct radial alignment. The stops are a softer
metal designed to wear before the tire as a normal feature.
This design predicts a 5 to 7 year repeatable maintenance
event that protects the sides of the tire from wear and will
allow several additional serviceable years from the tire. Let RSC quote your next Tire
Support installation!
